Basic Information

In the beginning, it is important that the trainees gain essential insights. Therefore, we recommend holding four initial workshops, in which the basics of building a tree house are taught. In this way, the trainees get a feeling for the content that needs to be conveyed to the participants of the treehouse camp at the beginning.

Background Information

Safety
Objectives:
LEARN
  • The trainees know their PPE (personal protection equipment) and know how to use it
  • The trainees know how to secure themselves at height
  • The trainees know the safety rules

DO
  • The trainees use knowledge of safety learned during building process.

TEACH
  • The trainees are able to give a safety workshop
  • The trainees are able to correct others when they see that the safety rules and the belaying method are not being followed.
Knotting
Objectives:
LEARN
  • The trainees know the most important knots used in treehouse building

  • The trainees know how to check a knot and assess errors


DO
  • The trainees use knowledge of knotting learned during building process

TEACH
  • The trainees are able to give a knotting workshop
  • The trainees know how to give feedback regarding correctness and improvement of the knot
Tree Climbing
Objectives:
LEARN

DO
  • The trainees use tree climbing in a safe way during the building process

TEACH
  • The trainees are able to teach others how to do tree climbing safely
  • The trainees know how to react to people with fear of heights during the workshop
Materials
Objectives:
LEARN
  • The trainees know the materials that are used and how to use them
  • The trainees know how to treat and store the materials

DO
  • The trainees use the material during the building process

TEACH
  • The trainees are able to explain to others about the materials used and how to use them
  • The trainees are able to explain how to store and treat the materials
